Accomodations:

We will using the Hotel Gualiqueme with its lush tropical surroundings makes it a perfect Honduras dove hunt headquarters. It boasts 24 rooms, each with air-conditioning, WiFI, TV and private bath with hot water. It has a beautiful swimming pool, a full bar, and a private dining room for the groups. At least one night you will enjoy a big barbecue by the swimming pool with dove, steaks, and local Honduran music. I have had many hunters over the years stay at Hotel Gualiqueme, and all have loved the food, service and accommodations.

The Experience:

Honduras offers a wide variety of dove shooting situations during the trip as you might shoot over a sorghum, sesame or corn fields in the morning and then a water hole, flyway or even a roost in the afternoon. The shoots can last from forty five minutes to two and a half hours depending on the weather and situation of the shoot. You will arrive at the fields before first light and in the afternoons you will stay until the birds stop flying so we always maximize the amount of shooting during the peak times. After the morning shoot we will return to the hotel for lunch, have a swim, and take a siesta before heading back out for the afternoon shoot. Each hunter will have two pickup boys that pick up every bird as you shoot them. No clickers we just count birds in the bag! Some of the Honduran pickup boys have been guiding hunters for over 35 years and are without a doubt some of the best in the world in finding the downed birds. They have become like family to some hunters and will remember you every time you return. The pickup boys will knock on your doors before each shoot and grab your guns and shells so when you reach the field you will be all set including a swivel stool with drinks waiting for you. Please note, Honduras is an extremely poor country and ALL birds are given to the locals after each hunt and are eaten so no birds are wasted. Please do not plan on bringing any birds back as once you see 100-300 people lined up for the birds you will agree that they need them more than we do.

The trip originates in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. Once you arrive, Prudencio your host will be waiting for the group as you after you clear immigration and arrive into the baggage claim area. Prudencio will assist you through customs and then handle the registration of your guns. They will then drive the group to the hunt area in the town of Choluteca. It is about a 2.5 hour drive and they will have an ice chest stocked with drinks as well some glasses and rum to make the drive go by easier. Once you arrive at the hotel, you will have the rest of the afternoon to get settled in and relax before dinner where your head guide Henry will go over the itinerary for the next few days.
